The Dirty Rock Of PBL

When you think of classic rock, nostalgic images of the 60s and 70s probably come to mind. I grew up listening to my dad’s favorites–Tom Petty, Jethro Tull and the Beatles, to name a few. All the kids in my family (there were 5 of us) can remember the records blaring and the radio being turned up anytime one of these bands came on. The era of classic rock impacted the evolution of music itself, sadly, leaving behind a bit of an empty feeling in today’s music scene.

Peanut Butter Lovesicle fills that void, offering a pure and raw sound reminiscent of your classic rock favorites. Their most recent EP Dirty Pride was produced by Henry Hirsh (whose credits include Madonna, Mick Jagger and Lenny Kravitz) and has turned out to be one of the best rock and roll albums I’ve ever heard.

Sure, I might be a little biased. I remember when PBL–my brothers Jake and Mike, and my cousin Timmy–started making music together. At first it was just local shows, but the ‘family band’ ended up being much more.

peanut butter lovesicleAfter many years, tons of shows and 2 EPs, these guys have shown they are the real deal. They just returned from a UK tour where they headlined several sold out shows, and PBL is now set to release their second music video from their sophomore EP, Dirty Pride. Their first video for “Black Eyed Blues” featured Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl and supermodel Julie Henderson. (The band garnered tons of popular attention after two of their songs were also featured in episodes of Gossip Girl.)

Classic Rock Magazine will release their feature on PBL this May, and the band will release their summer show lineup soon.

Dirty Pride has a live sound unlike a lot of the music you hear today. After you hear it you will understand just how talented these guys really are.
